Harris Hit with Articles of Impeachment

(UnitedVoice.com) – Last June, freshman Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) filed an impeachment article against Vice President Kamala Harris. The congressman targeted her work (or lack thereof) as President Joe Biden’s border czar. Now, the lawmaker has expanded his original filing.

On July 23, Ogles filed another impeachment article against Harris. This time, he accused her of breaching the public’s trust by allegedly covering up the president’s cognitive decline. In a statement about his decision to file, he accused the VP of disgracing her office and “willfully disregard[ing] her oath to” defend the US Constitution. Ogles continued, calling her an “embarrassment” and saying she refused to uphold the country’s immigration laws.

According to the Republican lawmaker, Harris had a constitutional duty to use the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office when he showed signs that he was allegedly “mentally and physically incapable of continuing to serve.”

Ogles faces an uphill battle getting his impeachment articles passed by the House. Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the White House physician, has repeatedly stated the president is fit to carry out the duties of his office. The last time he made the statement was the day before Ogles filed the article of impeachment against Harris.

In Ogles’ initial impeachment filing last year, he claimed Harris was incompetent and didn’t properly execute her duties. He accused the VP of doing nothing about the border while children and women were being killed by immigrants. Those murders were front and center in the minds of many Americans this year after a number of high-profile murders, including the death of a 12-year-old girl in Texas allegedly at the hands of two Venezuelan migrants.

Harris could be the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate now that Biden has dropped out of the race. That makes Ogles’ impeachment attempt even more relevant.
