Biden Reportedly Receptive to Stepping Out

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden’s debate performance was so bad in June that members of his party have spent weeks trying to get him out of the race. Democrats are speaking out publicly and privately. New reports indicate Biden might leave the race after all.

On July 17, The Associated Press and NORC at the University of Chicago released a poll showing that 65% of the Democratic Party wants Biden to leave the race. The poll reportedly bounced around Congress and the White House. An Axios report indicated the president might be thinking about dropping out of the race, claiming that he is privately bending to the mounting pressure from friends, Democratic Party leaders, and donors.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) reportedly traveled to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, on July 13 and told Biden to drop out of the race. He allegedly explained that Democrats are concerned they could lose winnable seats in congressional races if the president insists on staying in the race.

Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, along with Hillary Clinton, have all failed to support Biden, except for a statement Obama issued immediately after the debate. Former aides of the three Democratic powerbrokers have come out against Biden remaining in the race.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is allegedly leading the charge to push Biden out. She reportedly spoke to Biden on the phone and showed him polls that indicated he couldn’t win the race. Not only that, but the polls showed that if he didn’t leave, he’d destroy the Democratic Party’s chance of winning the House back. Biden reportedly pushed back and said he’d seen polls that stated the opposite.

Several Democrats have said they believe the president will leave the race. However, a senior Biden aide told Axios that the president is “more committed to staying in the race.” The president’s campaign said he’s “going to win this November.”

Late Sunday afternoon, President Biden shocked the nation through a post on X, formerly Twitter, in which he officially declared his intention to drop out of the 2024 presidential election. Biden also gave his endorsement to Kamala Harris in a following post.
