Biden Sinks to Lowest Numbers Since President Carter

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden is in the middle of his reelection campaign, but the polls are not in his favor. The 46th POTUS’ approval ratings are in the toilet. It doesn’t bode well for November.

Gallup published a new survey on January 25 showing Biden’s third-year job approval average. According to the poll, only 39.8% of Americans approve of the way the president is handling the job. The only president to perform that poorly at this point in their first term was former President Jimmy Carter, who averaged just over 37.4%. At the time Carter’s poll numbers were down, there were record gas prices, the Iranian hostage crisis, and inflation reached double digits.

Last year, Biden did very poorly in the polls, making the low third-year average unsurprising. He reached 37% in November, October, and April. The president’s approval ratings have been sinking since he pulled American troops out of Afghanistan in the summer of 2021 and ended the 20-year war. Americans watched chaos unfold during the withdrawal, and then a suicide bomber killed 13 US service members and approximately 160 Afghan civilians.

In addition to the Afghanistan chaos, the US has dealt with high inflation that has impacted nearly every aspect of people’s lives. Housing is unaffordable for half of US renters. Millions of Americans have been priced out of buying a home. Healthcare costs continue to skyrocket. Education wars are an issue around the country.

Biden’s decision to support Israel in its war with Hamas has also hurt him in the polls. The far-left has repeatedly condemned him for his decision and accused him of aiding in a genocide.

January’s Gallup poll numbers don’t look much better for the embattled president. A survey conducted from January 2 through January 22 found an abysmal 41% of Americans approve of his job performance. Those aren’t great numbers for a man who is likely going to face the most popular Republican in generations in November.
